Project

The project

Dance as a shared playground

Our workshops aim to create a space where everyone can experience dance as a collective playground, fostering encounter, connection and expression. Through guided improvisations built on contact, listening and curiosity, the goal is to bring a moving collective into being, open to every body, every age and every form of expression.

Objectives

  • Introduce contemporary dance through practice
  • Explore the notions of connection, contact and relating to others
  • Develop bodily and sensory listening
  • Occupy spaces not dedicated to dance

Audiences

  • Schools — primary, middle and high schools
  • Amateur groups — cultural centres, associations
  • Audiences with limited access to culture
  • Intergenerational groups
Workshops

Workshops on offer

Four entry points, all modular

Bodies in relation

Exploring contact and relating to others: light touch, weight-bearing, sharing weight, resistance, letting go, in duos or groups.

Contact, meaning and transformation

Starting from concrete action verbs (pull, push, support…), building choreographic material specific to each duo or group.

Sound and movement

Translating everyday sounds into movement: active listening, the musicality of the body, staying available to the unexpected.

Dancing the in-situ space

Occupying a schoolyard, a gym, a garden: the architecture and the flow of people become partners in play.

Pathways

Sample pathways

A progression by age group

Ages 3–5

Nursery

5 to 8 sessions - playful, sensory, imagery-driven approach.

Ages 6–10

Primary school

6 to 10 sessions - creative, collective approach.

Ages 11–15

Middle school

8 to 12 sessions - reflective, engaged, creative approach.

Each pathway can close with a showing that celebrates, above all, the creative process and the participants' commitment. A tailor-made project can also be built together with the cultural facilitator.
