Hydres

The collective
Overview
Collectif Hydres, founded by Cassandre Guerdat and Hippolyte Desneux, is based between Normandy and the Paris region. Their approach is deliberately cross-disciplinary, with dance in close dialogue with music and other forms of artistic expression.
Hydres questions the ties that run through people and the patterns of communication that shape human connection. Through organic, concrete movement, the collective moves with a rhythmic energy in perpetual motion, anchored in its environment.

With the collective
Sound design - Geschwister
Performer - Torann
A Sound Master's student at the École Nationale Supérieure Louis-Lumière, Éléonore began her musical studies as a violinist at the Rouen conservatoire. Now a sound designer and sound engineer, she takes part in various artistic and musical production projects.
Performer - Torann
A contemporary dancer, Maria-Raffaella started out in classical ballet before joining the Coline programme. She also trained in violin and launched a first musical project as a singer. Passionate about the audiovisual, she has worked on short and feature films, as a performer and as an editor.
Performer - Torann
A dancer, performer and musician, Johanne trained in contemporary dance at the Grenoble conservatoire, where she also earned her music diploma in oboe. She also practises singing, jazz and baroque composition, and created a solo piece in 2021 blending song and dance before joining Coline in 2024.
Approach
A strong pull toward dance outside the studio runs through Hydres' research. The street, the city's uneven rhythms, its flows and encounters inspire and feed the collective's practice, to the point of making the surrounding soundscape a true partner in play.
Outreach
Certified DP2i (Danseur.euse Professionnel.le Interprète Intervenant.e: professional dancer/teaching artist) after their training at Coline in June 2024, Cassandre and Hippolyte are qualified to design and lead arts-education programmes. More than fifty workshops have been delivered in middle and high schools to date.
