Geschwister, a choreographic duet

Duet - 2026 creation

Geschwister

Geschwister

Notes of intent

"Siblings"

Geschwister, an untranslatable German word, means "siblings". The piece seeks to make tangible the ties that run through the duet, from force to caress, from sensuality to abandon, by following the evolution of the relationship between a brother and a sister: childhood closeness, teenage confrontation, the mutual respect of maturity, and the nostalgia of looking back.

Two singular beings move together, acting on one another with agility and precision. Through explosive physicality and spontaneous rhythm, the duet traces a path around its volumes, its shifting body relationships, all the way to hybridity. These singular bodies influence, confront and intertwine one another, moving between choreographic precision and spontaneity. The piece questions personal space, the place of the other, and the possibility of sustaining a bond from a distance.

The duet unfolds alongside a soundscape created by Éléonore Dagnet: an electro-contemporary world built from everyday recordings (breathlessness, the metro, a kettle, a washing machine, a theatre's applause).

A performance for any ground

Driven by an interest in dance outside the theatre, Geschwister has been performed in the street, in gardens, on squares, in front of a cathedral, inside an art gallery, letting the soundscape and the unpredictable, living audience become partners and drivers of creation.
